We put together a global marketing calendar that you can easily scan to prepare for the next big holiday to make this year the best one yet.
Every day is a celebration to be marked as an opportunity. Here are a few events that you should add to your calendar if you want to generate more sales.
Some holidays will absolutely go hand-in-hand with your brand and some won’t. That’s okay!

Q1

The US economy usually slows down during the first quarter of the year.
People are recovering from hard hits to their wallets. The holidays are over but as you know the online world never sleeps.
The first quarter is the perfect time to reconnect with customers that stumbled upon your brand during the final shopping days of last year. Pay close attention to your segmentation. Who are you sharing your messages with?
Put together an effective plan to reach your targeted audience through personalized campaigns.

January

Habrin International Ice & Snow Sculpture Festival

This is the world’s largest ice festival in China.
Hundreds of thousands flock to Habrin to witness mesmerizing ice sculptures with their own eyes. Usually the Habrin Ice and Snow World covers over 600,000 square meters and includes more than 100 landmarks.

February

New York Fashion Week

New York Fashion Week is one of four major fashion weeks in the world, along with those in Paris, London, and Milan.
New York Fashion Week is held semi-annually (February and September). Fashion shows are not open to the public. The event is an invitation only.
If you target the right audience, you may find a success. Appeal to either pro or anti fashion week enthusiasts. No matter which side you choose, you can easily make a quick buck.

March

Holi

Holi is a Hindu festival to welcome the arrival of spring. It is sometimes referred to as the Festival of colours or the Festival of Love.
It begins the night of the 20th with religious celebrations around a bonfire praying for internal Evil to be destroyed.
People paint each other with colors the following morning.

Mardi Gras

The carnival itself begins on January 6 and continues through midnight on Fat Tuesday.
Carnival is celebrated in countries with large Roman Catholic populations.
Three distinctive colors are prominent during carnival season – Purple, Yellow, and Green. Purple symbolizes justice, yellow represents power, and green stands for faith.
New Orleans attracts 1.4 million visitors each year but it’s not the only place people go above and beyond to throw Mardi Gras celebrations – Mobile – Alabama, St. Louis – Missouri, Rio de Janeiro – Brazil, and Nice – France are among the few others to celebrate days of Carnival.

Rio Carnival

Rio Carnival is considered the biggest carnival in the world with over two million people visiting each year.
The combination of its cultural diversity and Brazilian swing rhythm is what makes this Carnival so unique. “Locals describe the Rio Carnival as “the greatest show on Earth”, celebrations of one kind or another will take place in cities across the whole country.”

St. Patrick’s Day

Corn beef, cabbage, Guinness, and green clothing takes over America on this day.
Over 33 million partiers worldwide participate in St. Patrick’s Day festivities, according to Wallethub.
That’s a helluva large market to tap into. Not to mention that younger celebrants (18-24) plan to purchase green apparel (31%), according to NRF.

Q2

The first step of the second quarter is to look back and see what worked and what didn’t.
Look at both successes and failures to determine how to approach your next selling quarter to avoid making the same mistakes.

April

Coachella

Coachella is a music festival with a splash of art and fashion trends.
It is with no doubt one of the most popular music festivals in the United States. This event draws in tens of thousands of people each year.
Coachella was the second-highest grossing festival in 2016, only behind Desert Trip, the classic rock festival with The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and more that Goldenvoice held in Indio last fall.

May

New Orleans Jazz Fest

Every year Jazz Fest features New Orleans and Louisiana style music, including the blues, R&B, gospel, Cajun, zydeco, Africo-Caribbean, folk, Latin, rock, rap country, and more.

June

The White Nights Festival

The festival features numerous cultural events that take place during nighttime, as well as classical ballet, opera, and music.
One of the main events is called Scarlet Sails, a giant fireworks show celebrating the end of the school year as ships cruise through the harbor.

Q3

We are one step closer to Q4 and with that said you should be revising and tweaking anything that has caused you problems in past.
Get yourself ready for the biggest selling season of all the 4th quarter.

July

Tomorrowland

Tomorrowland is the most international event on a planet.
People from all over 200 different countries visit Tomorrowland each year.
Over 14 million individuals follow Tomorrowland on Facebook.
Instagram has 6.3 million followers and Twitter 2.42 million followers.

August

Burning Man

Burning Man is an annual event.
A temporary city is built in the Black Rock Desert.
80 percent of attendees were from the United States (most notably from California) in 2017, and nearly 50 percent of burners were ages between 25 to 34.
In 2017, over 75 percent of burners spent more than $1,000 dollars to attend (excluding ticket cost), and more than 50 percent of attendees had a household income below $100,000.”

September

Oyster and Seafood Festival

This is one of Ireland’s oldest festivals.
It is the most internationally recognized Irish festival after St Patrick’s Day and the world’s longest running Oyster Festival.
This is a great opportunity to appeal to a very specific targeted audience.

Q4

The Fourth quarter is like a gold mine to miners during the Gold Rush. Things to do to have a profitable Q4 of selling:

  • If your business is growing, consider hiring some additional help to help with customer service questions.
  • Analyze trends and take time to predict item hot list.
  • Adjust your pricing strategies to follow trends upward in price from November through December.
  • If you are using automated messages, insert a holiday greeting to spread holiday spirit and festive vibes.

October

Octoberfest

Oktoberfest is the biggest folk festival in the world.
Oktoberfest reflects the culture of Bavaria. What started as a simple marriage ceremony is not a full-blown international event that attracts people from all around the world.
In 2017 alone, 7.5 million liters of beer was consumed by 6.3 million visitors over 18 days.

Diwali Is known as a Festival of Lights and it’s one of the most popular India’s holidays.
Many people look for the perfect outfit to wear during the festival.
People celebrate by decorating their homes, shopping, fireworks and performing religious rituals.

November

Dia de Los Muertos

Also known as The Day of the Dead.
It’s a two-day celebration of honoring the deceased.
The Mexican holiday is mainly celebrated in Central and South regions of Mexico and by people who are of Mexican heritage. Here are some other communities that celebrate the Day of the Death too:

  • New Mexico
  • Arizona
  • California (San Diego, Santa Ana)

Kwanzaa

This celebration honors African heritage in American culture, consisting of feast and giving.
