If you’re interested in adding face masks to your store, right now is the perfect time. If you already sell them, great! Masks don’t seem to be leaving our wardrobe anytime soon, so consumers are beginning to invest in more designs they love. Adding face masks to your product line-up can help you make a few extra dollars while helping keep your customers safe & stylish. To make it a little easier, we put together this list of 7 tips to help you successfully sell face masks.

1. Make Your Listing Appealing

Mask listings should be simple, succinct, & easy to read. They should be easy to understand & include clear photos of your masks. The product description should include the type of fabric, measurements, how it should be worn, if it can be washed, & other important facts. The photos of your product should be in natural, bright lighting to highlight the color & material. You should also try to include pictures of different people wearing your masks to show the fit.

2. Don’t Make Medical or Health Claims

When creating your mask listing, you should avoid making medical or health claims. Your shoppers may be led to believe that your mask will prevent COVID-19 or coronavirus if it is mentioned in your listing. You should avoid comparisons to N95 masks or respirators, mentioning they are CDC or FDA approved, or claiming your fabric face mask will protect or prevent transmission of viruses. You may believe these things to be true about your masks, but unless you can be 100% positive, it is imperative that you avoid any of these claims.

3. Be Clear About What You’re Selling

When creating a listing for face masks, make sure to be clear about what the customer is going to get in the mail. Masks are a hard product to sell because no one has the same face shape or fit preference. If you are clear in your description about what they will receive, it will help eliminate the possibility of returns or negative reviews.
You should also be clear in your product description about the estimated shipping time & price. Many POD providers add shipping into your listing price but if they don’t, you will want to factor that in. Also, by being clear about the shipping time customers won’t have to worry about their mask arriving late if it is needed for a special event or is being given as a gift.

4. Highlight Product Features

Highlighting your products features is an easy way to make sure your listing shows up in shoppers search results. Promote features of your mask such as the type of ear straps, mask fabric, if they are machine washable, or even reversible. Shoppers will use these types of features as keywords in their online searches.

5. Add Tips & Tricks for Using Your Mask

In your mask listing, it is helpful for your customers if you include tips & tricks for correctly wearing & maintaining their mask. You can add a graphic to your listing that may include bullet points on how to wear the mask properly and how to wash it. Make sure your customers are aware they should be following the CDC website guidelines when it comes to correctly wearing & removing your face masks to maintain safety for themselves a& others around them.

6. Offer Fun Designs for Everyone

Offering a mix of fun & creative designs that can draw in different people is key in creating sales & making your customers happy. You should create a variety of colors & designs on your masks. These can include solid colors, patterns, pictures of famous mouths, logos, & more. The greater variety of designs your store holds, the more likely someone is to stumble upon your store & find something they are willing to buy.

7. Share Your Shop on Social Media

Once your shop has added masks and is up & running it is important to get the word out about your new product. Don’t be shy about sharing your masks on different social media platforms. Post links to your store on your own social media & ask friends & family to share your new product on their pages — you never know who they might be friends with. Social media offers free ways to get the word out about your mask business, don’t be afraid to use it.

We are all in this together when it comes to keeping ourselves & each other safe. Wearing a mask with a unique design is a great way for an individual to show their fashion sense while doing their part to help stop the spread.
