According to Chitika’s data, the first domain listed on Page 1 gets just under a third of overall search traffic, while the seventh listing gets only 3.5 percent.

Long-Tail Keywords consists of 4 or more words. Single keywords are too broad.
Long-tail keywords are more specific in nature, less competitive to rank and more qualified to drive traffic to your website.
Include secondary words that help to clarify what your keywords are about.
People don’t use the same words to describe things, therefore include synonyms or words that mean roughly the same thing.
Pro Tip: For a Google search, enter (~) character in front of a keyword and view the results page, synonyms appear in BOLD

Google robots are smart to process the content with stop words (at, to, will, this). Don’t be afraid to use them.

Page Speed

Page speed is now a ranking factor in mobile search too.
Page speed can be described in either “page load time” (the time it takes to fully display the content on a specific page) or “time to the first byte” (how long it takes for your browser to receive the first byte of information from the web server).
Pages that take longer to load lead to fewer conversions.

Site structure is important for users but also for high SEO ranking.
Optimize your page in a way to promt a quick orientation.


Include descriptive words in your call to actions.
Include names of product and something meaningful about it.
The most effective call to actions, include imperative verb and benfit.
Imperative verbs: act, add, apply. buy, click, join, learn, register, and more.

Mobile Optimization

Responsiveness is very important for mobile search.
Your site should be mobile, or tablet friendly.
Google Analytics is a great tool that provides quantifiable data on how mobile visitors are engaging with your content.

Too much cross-linking between unrelated subjects will most likely confuse the search engine.

External Links

Links from your site to other site are called external links.
External links count towards search engine rank.
According to today major engines use metrics to determine link’s value such as trustworthiness, popularity, content, and the number of links to the same page on the source page.

Broken Links

Test your links and make sure they are properly working so you don’t end up with frustrated visitors or worse devalued ranking.
When you rebrand, links become broken and that may result in poor customer experience.
Hint: Take 30 minutes out of your day to click through your site to look for errors.

Meta Descriptions

Description Meta Tag

Meta tag should be written like a sentence because that is what search engines display within a result listing. Do not repeat words twice. The length guideline is 12 to 24 words.

Meta Keywords Tag

It can be written as a list, separated by commas. Start with long phrases and end with single words. Total length should not be longer than 48 words.

Optimizing Images

When you include images, video or other visuals – describe them in the surrounding text.
Search engines cannot analyze multimedia, therefore it is important to explain the picture in surrounding text.
Tips: Larger files  should have a longer text descriptions  and vise versa.
Generally, the Alt conent should not exceed 12 words.

Include description either above or below, or next to the multimedia file.
Use captions or what explain what the image shows.


Add actual words to the file name of the multimedia file.

Alt Attribute

Add descriptive text into the Alt attribute.
For example: alt=”Print On Demand Tshirt”.
